The Island Games swimming got off to a fantastic start with a total of 3 gold,1 silver and 3 bronze medals from day 1 in the pool.
Laura Le Cras claimed silver in the Women’s 400m Individual Medley in 5:07.34.
Ben Lowndes took bronze in the Men’s 200m Butterfly in 2:06.05.
Orla Rabey took bronze in the Women’s 100m Butterfly in 1:03.63.
Ben Lowndes missed out on a medal placing 4th in the Men’s 100m Breaststroke in 1:06.12.
Thomas Hollingsworth claimed the first gold medal in the pool in the Men’s 50m Backstroke in a time of 25.72. Oliver Nightingale took bronze in the same event in 26.64.

Courtney Butcher placed 5th in the Women’s 200m Freestyle in 2:09.30.
Will Russell placed 5th in the Men’s 200m Individual Medley in 2:10.20.
Tatiana Tostevin, Laura Le Cras, Orla Rabey and Courtney Butcher made up the Women’s 4x50m Freestyle Relay and they claimed the gold medal in a new Island and Island Games record time of 1:45.86.

Thomas Hollingsworth, Ben Lowndes, Henry Cliff and Miles Munro made up the Men’s 4x50m Medley Relay in 1:42.87.
