Swim England Summer Nationals

13 year old Emma Bourgaize and 17 year old Luke Le Cras attended the Swim England Summer Nationals which was held over 5 days last week at Ponds Forge pool in Sheffield.

Emma made her debut at this prestigious competition in the 50m freestyle, she got a good start put her head down and raced to the end finishing in 29.12, just shy of her long course PB and placed 15th overall.

Luke qualified for the 50m and 100m breaststroke events. He swam a strong 100m race finishing just outside his PB in a time of 1:11.44.  He had a much better race in the 50m heats, with a strong start taking the touch in 31.43 to gain a place in the men’s 17 years final as 8th fastest. Luke got a quicker start off the blocks in the final working really hard to the 25m mark and continued to hold his speed keeping his stroke long to finish 5th overall in 31.31 moving up 3 places.

Both Luke and Emma have worked really hard this year to qualify for the English Nationals and Luke is working towards qualifying for the Youth Commonwealth Games to be held late July next year.  The Nationals is a quality meet to gain valuable lone course experience which both swimmers were pleased to qualify for.
