Just missing out on the medals, Guernsey Swimming Club’s Charlie-Joe Hallett had some great swims at the National Winter Championships. This is the biggest English swimming meet of the winter months, with 873 swimmers and some of Britain’s top senior swimmer involved and it is held at Ponds Forge International pool in Sheffield.
Charlie-Joe competed in the 400IM where he was just outside of his personal best, however in his main stroke breaststroke, he again lowered his personal best times with some outstanding swimming making all 3 youth finals setting 3 new Island Records in the process. Finishing in the 50m in a time of 28.45, 100m 1:02.09 and the 200m finishing fourth in the youth 18 & under in a new Island record time of 2:15.19. Amazingly Charlie-Joe had reduced his 200m Breaststroke time by 12 seconds from the beginning of this year bringing his British ranking up to number 4 in the 200m and number 5 in the 100m and 50m.
Having had a very busy year Charlie-Joe is having a well earned break over the Christmas and New Year. Coming back in after the sessional break he will then change his to focus on the British Championship being held in April at the London Aquatics centre which he has already has qualifying times for.
