Well done to all the Guernsey Swimming Club swimmers who took part in the GASA 50m sprint gala held this weekend at St Sampsons High School. This was a Swim England Licence level 4 event,and was subject to Swim England Laws and Regulations and Swim England Technical Rules of Racing. Awards were presented to the top three swimmers in each group on a points basis,1stplace – 6 points, 2nd– 5 points, and so on down to 1 point for sixth place.
This was a very exciting and competitive event with several of our swimmers placing in the top three, Laura Le Cras set a new record in the 16 and over 50m butterfly and club captain Charlie-Joe Hallett set a new record in the 16 and over 50m breaststroke.
The event was well supported from both clubs and saw the inclusion of a new age category 25-99 for our masters swimmers. It was very pleasing to see more of our younger swimmers compete, a huge amount of new personal best times were set our swimmers which was great to see with the Rothschild Island Championships in two weeks time.
