Sarah qualifies for the International Disability Swimming Championships.

Sarah Whitchurch recently travelled to Manchester to compete in the DSC Nationals.  On her way home Sarah had time to reflect on her outstanding weekend and wrote the following.

“It’s Monday morning at 7am and I am sat at Manchester airport waiting for my flight back to Guernsey after an unforgettable weekend competing at the British Gas National Disability Swimming Championships. Over the weekend I competed in 5 events (100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 50 freestyle, 200 freestyle and 50 backstroke), in each of these events I won either a gold or silver medal in my classification and also achieved PBs in 3 of these events.

With the times that I have achieve I am now eligible to qualify for the International Disability Swimming Championships which take place in Glasgow March 2015.

This weekend has been an amazing experience as it has given me the opportunity to represent Guernsey, compete against other athletes in my classification, which I have not been able to do since I competed at National level 9 years ago.  As well as meeting and watching Paralympic Medallists competing and inspiring me in my swimming career.”
