Jersey Swimming Club Summer Graded Gala
Guernsey swimming club attended the Summer graded meet hosted by Jersey Swimming Club held at Les Quennevais pool. The summer graded is a mixed level event excluding swimmers with National or Southern times. After sorting out the problems of travelling to Jersey and with the help of Jersey swimming club kindly changing the start time to accommodate the Guernsey swimmers, a total of 21 Guernsey Swimming Club swimmers between the age of 9 and 14 travelled over to Jersey for the one day event.
Outstanding swimming saw Jack Blondel 14 swim in 8 events achieving PB in all of his races and in doing so placed 1st in the 50 breaststroke in the A division and in B division 1st in the 100 IM, 100m breaststroke, 100m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 50m backstroke, 50 freestyle and 2nd in the 50m butterfly. In winning the 50m freestyle in a time of 29.55 Jack achieved a sub 30 second mark attaining one of his own personal gaols.
Sam Lowe 10 swam exceedingly well with a 6.13pb in the 100m backstroke he also gained another three 1st places in the A-division for the 100m IM, 50m Backstroke, 50 butterfly and 2nd for the 100m freestyle in the B-division. Meanwhile team mate Ronny Hallett also produced some outstanding PB’s knocking 5.89 seconds off his 100m breaststroke time to winning the B-division event he also gained 1st places in the 100m freestyle, 100m backstroke lowering his entered time by 7.59 seconds 3rd 100m IM A – division 1st 50m freestyle 2nd in the 50 backstroke 3rd 50 breaststroke.
Swimming in A-division Sophie De La Mare 13 placed 1st in the 50m & 100m Breaststroke 3rd in the 100 IM, 100 freestyle, 100m & 50m Backstroke In B Division 1st in the 100m Butterfly. Charlie Jo Hallett also 13 won three 1st places in the100m breaststroke 50m freestyle & breaststroke, three 2nd places in the 100m Backstroke & IM and three 3rd places 100m freestyle 50m butterfly & Backstroke.
11 year old Charlie Le Page came 1st in the A- division in the 100m butterfly, 50m breaststroke, 50m butterfly 2nd in the 100m backstroke 3rd 100m IM and in the B- division 1st 100m breaststroke 3rd 100m freestyle.
With no A and B divisions in the 9 year old age group Abigail Stephens gained 1st places in the100m IM, 50m Backstroke 25m butterfly in a very tight race just missing out on the touch by 0.07 seconds to Maddy Russell placing 2nd in 50m freestyle. Brother Joshua Stephens 11 placed 2nd 50 Backstroke 3rd 100m backstroke in the A-division and 3rd in the 100m butterfly b-division.
14 year old Amy Ryan picked up 1st places in the 50 Backstroke, 50 freestyle 2nd 50 &100m butterfly 3rd 100m backstroke, 50 breaststroke and in the A division 3rd for the 100m IM, 100m Freestyle. Kaylie Williams 10 placed 1st in the 100m freestyle 50m butterfly 2nd in the100m backstroke 50m freestyle. Lewis Blondel also 10 placed 1st in the 50m breaststroke both swimming in the b-division
The trio of Chapman sisters also had some great swims with Eileen 13 placing 1st in the 100 breaststroke and 3rd in the 100m backstroke, & 50m breaststroke with her younger sisters Veronica 2nd 100m IM 3rd in the 50 freestyle Nadine 4th in the 100 backstroke both 11 years old. Luke Jehan 11 placed 2nd in the 50m backstroke, Reece battle 11 3rd 50 freestyle, Jonty Carnachan 14 3rd in the 50 butterfly.
Some great swimming and personal best times were also swam by Ellie Cloarec, Adam De la Mare, Edward Jehan, Keeah Battle. A very successful summer graded meet by all of the Guernsey Swimming Club swimmers.
