Rousse to Amarreurs Bay Swim Results 2014

The Guernsey Swimming Club started their series of bay swims on Sunday June 22.   With the recent spell of good weather helping to warm up the water put together with a nice hot sunny afternoon and almost calm sea conditions, 51 swimming members of the Guernsey Swimming Club took the plunge to complete the Rousse to Amarreurs swim.

For the seasoned all year round swimmers it was a easy swim, but for many youngsters and adult it is a serious personal challenge going from the pool environment to their first open sea with not only the sea condition to contend with but navigation too.  Paul Mason was the first to finish with Becky Simmons and Alex Batiste close on his tail.  Veronica Chapman managed to beat her sister Nadine by four minutes the twin sisters were the youngest swimmers to complete the swim which is approximately 750m from the Rousse Pier to the sandy beach at Les Amarreurs.  Sarah Whitchurch also took up the challenge completing the swim to become the first disabled swimmer to complete a club bay swim.

Many of these swimmers will be hoping to tackle the Guernsey Swimming Club annual Herm swim which will be held later in the year.  This swim and all subsequent bay swim could not take part without the support of Kayakers and safety boats and officials and the Guernsey Swimming Club would like to thank all the people who gave up their time to support the event.
