Swim England South East Regionals Championships

Guernsey Swimming Club swimmer, 14 year old Samuel Cann, attended the Swim England South East Regionals Championships over the weekends of 20th and 27th April 2024.

The first weekend took place at the K2 in Crawley, where the meet ended up being run as a short course (25m) due to technical problems. This did not phase Samuel who swam to the best of his ability, aiming to achieve closer qualifying times for the Island Games and reaching two finals reserves.

He reached 10th out of 21 in the 200m breaststroke, and his next swim was the 100m breaststroke where he finished 9th out of 28. On the last day of that weekend, Samuel swam a brilliant 400m Individual Medley achieving a 7s personal best and finishing 10th in his age cohort of 22 swimmers.

The weekend of 27th April saw Samuel in Winchester in a 50m pool where he swam in the 200m Individual Medley and the 50m breaststroke. While not achieving as high finishing rankings as his previous weekend, he still finished his 50m breaststroke with a personal best and kept to a very close time to his 200m IM PB.
