Porpoise Gala 2022

Well done to all swimmers that competed in the Porpoise Gala and a special thanks to those officials who turned up to assist in the running of the event.

Porpoise Gala Results 2022

The Guernsey Swimming Club recently held its annual Porpoise Gala. Swimmers aged up to 11 years swam in events ranging from 10 metres in the small pool to 100 metres in the main pool.

In the mixed five and under 10m freestyle and 10m backstroke Ollie Jackson and Eliza Hughes took gold in their respective races. In the Girls 6-11 small pool 10m freestyle and 10m backstroke, Imogen Bateman won both events and received the Norman trophy.  

The competition for the Girls’ seven and under Norbrees trophy saw seven year old Poppy Sargent bring the trophy home after winning gold in the 25m breaststroke, freestyle and backstroke. In the Boys’ category, Cameron Le Tissier, 7, took home the Tiverton trophy.

The 8-9 year old girls who were competing in the 50m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and the 25m butterfly saw Ruby King (9) take the Boram trophy following her wins in the four events .

In the Boys’ 8-9 events, William Le Tissier (9) took home the Brunswick trophy following races in 50m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and the 25m butterfly as the overall winner.

 Grace King and Corey de Jersey, both 11, took home gold medals in all five races touching first in the 50m butterfly, freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and 100m IM in the 10-11 years old girls’ and boys’ events. They respectively take home the Alice Collins and Butt trophies.

The Guernsey Swimming Club also holds the annual Curr Cup in this gala which sees small pool swimmers compete over 10 metres. The youngest swimmer to complete the distance takes home the trophy and this year, the Cup went to 5 year old Duncan Le Tissier.
