While most of us were celebrating Liberation Day, 12 years old Lily Smith was competing in her first Swim South East Regionals competition in Winchester.
It was the first time that she took part in this meet.
Lily competed in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke achieving a personal best in 100m and 200m events and she reserve for all three finals.
Coach, Sue Chapman, who was with Lily in Winchester commented ‘Im really proud of of the way Lily swam and represented the Guernsey Swimming Club. She performed extremely well against some stiff top class competition and showing great promise for the future.’
Head Coach, Heather Jackson, reflecting on the last 2 weekends of Regionals Meets stated: ‘to see all of our Guernsey Swimming Club swimmers, swimming either for the Club or under colours, shows that the Club is going strong and that our swimmers are pushing to higher levels as the years goes. With such a caliber of swimmers, the GSC’s future is in safe hands’.
