Guernsey Swimming Club – Regional’s Meets

Samuel Cann travelled to High Wycombe on the weekend of 2nd May 2026 to take part in the Swim South East Regionals meet.

Sam, in the 16 year old category, took part in the 200m Individual Medley, where he reached final as a reserve.

He reached the finals of the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke finishing fourth in the 100m event, having achieved over 2 seconds personal best on his Long Course time. In the 200m breaststroke final, he achieved a bronze medal, improving his Long Course time by nearly 4 seconds.

Coach, Matt Butt, who accompanied Sam to High Wycombe commented ‘seeing Sam improve his times this weekend shows his determination to perform at the highest level . All the great performances seen this weekend  is a testament to the effort he put in behind the scenes.’

Meanwhile, Emma Bourgaize took part in the Swim North East Regionals meet at the Sunderland Aquatic Centre, swimming under the colours of her affiliated club Tadcaster York Swim Squad.

She took part in the 17 and over age group in the 100m breaststroke, 50 and 100m butterfly and the 4x100m Freestyle Female Relay team. She reached the finals of the 50m and 100m freestyle and made final reserve for the 50m breaststroke.

Swimming in the South West Regionals Swimming Meet during the bank holiday weekend of 2 May 2026, affiliated Guernsey Swimming Club members Charlie-Joe and Ronny Hallett showed that their qualifications in the Commonwealth Games is well deserved while swimming under their Plymouth College’s colours.
Charlie-Joe won gold and Ronny got the silver in the 50m breaststroke. Charlie-Joe continue his breaststroke successes by achieving another gold in the 100m and a silver in the 200m.
Ronny made finals in 50m fly and the 50m freestyle.
Charlie-Joe also took part in the  4x 100m freestyle Relay and 4×100 Medley Relay swimming the breaststroke leg.
