Two Guernsey Swimming Club swimmers, Emma Bourgaize and Sam Cann, attended the South East Winter Regionals Swimming Short Course Championships on the weekend of the 1st November 2025 at the Winchester Leisure Centre.
The competition, which is an open age-group championship, was fierce for these swimmers who rank in the top 10 for the South East Region in their events for their age groups.
Emma took part in the 50m and 100m freestyle, the 50m butterfly where she achieved a personal best in each of these events and the 50m breaststroke.
She reached B Finals for the 100m Individual Medley improving her time by 0.5 from the time she achieved in the heat.
Sam participated in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke events, his specialist stroke, achieving times very close to his entry times.
Coach Matt Butt commented ‘Emma and Sam have done amazingly well this weekend. Just obtaining qualifying times for these Championships is an impressive achievement and they have made the Club proud.’
