Guernsey Swimming Club Shines at Winchester Summer Splash

Guernsey Swimming Club made a strong debut at the Winchester Summer Splash swim meet held at Winchester Aquatics Centre on 7th and 8th June. A dedicated squad of 26 swimmers represented the club, delivering an outstanding performance across the weekend.

Competing in a total of 178 races, the team brought home an impressive haul of 58 medals — 17 Gold, 19 Silver, and 22 Bronze. For many swimmers, it was their first time racing in a 50m pool, making their achievements even more remarkable.

All athletes rose to the occasion, with numerous personal best times recorded throughout the meet. One standout performance came from Faye Castle, the youngest member of the team, who shaved an incredible 20 seconds off her 200m Freestyle time — a huge personal milestone.

Another standout performer was James Eley, who was also competing in a 50m pool for the first time. James achieved 8 medals over the weekend, while setting personal best times — all with a smile on his face.

“I am incredibly proud of all the swimmers this weekend, they competed at a high level, showcasing their ability, and gaining invaluable experience that will serve them well in future competitions.”

With such a promising showing, Guernsey Swimming Club continues to demonstrate the strength and depth of talent developing within its ranks.
