The Annual Junior Meet returned with excitement and energy this year, proudly sponsored by Wayfarers Travel. Held at St Sampson’s High School, the competition brought together young swimmers from Guernsey Swimming Club, Beau Sejour Barracudas, and Calligo Tigers to compete for the prestigious Bailiff’s Cup. Although Jersey Swimming Club were sadly unable to attend, the event didn’t fall short of intensity, talent, and true team spirit.
Over two thrilling sessions, swimmers battled it out in what turned out to be one of the closest contests in recent memory. GSC Coach Sue Chapman remarked, “It was the closest-fought meet we’ve had in years.”
A standout moment came in the 10 & Under 100m Medley Relay, where the Guernsey Swimming Club’s 10-year-old boys team delivered a show-stopping performance. Aaron Beak, James Eley, Cameron Le Tissier, and Riley McCracken smashed the previous meet record of 1:20.01, setting a new time of 1:18.21. Their teamwork, precision, and determination were on full display and set the tone for the day.
Throughout the meet, GSC swimmers showcased brilliant team spirit, cheering one another on at the ends of lanes and from the sidelines. It was a testament to the values at the heart of the Annual Junior Meet: camaraderie, encouragement, and pride in performance.
When the final points were tallied, it was the Barracudas who edged ahead to take home the Bailiff’s Cup, with Calligo Tigers placing second and Guernsey Swimming Club finishing in a strong third. Every club brought their best to the pool, making for a meet filled with personal bests, close finishes, and memories to last.

The GSC are extremely proud of their swimmers this year in what was a long day but the spirit never dipped.
