The Guernsey Swimming Club would like to wish our swimmers all the best for the Natwest International Island Games XIX, which is being held at Beau Sejour Leisure Centre next week.
We have 7 swimmers from our club representing Guernsey in the Island Games – Laura Le Cras, Hannah Kennedy, Charlie-Joe Hallett, Ronny Hallett, Samuel Lowe, Joshua Dunning and Luke Le Cras.

Laura Le Cras
Laura is currently training as a student nurse in Guernsey she first competed in the Island Games when she was 14 and this will be her 3rd Island Games and is competing in the 50, 100 & 200 Breaststroke, 50 Freestyle, 50 Backstroke and the 100 Individual Medley.
Laura currently holds 4 Island records and has represented Hampshire in the Inter Counties championships, competed at British and English Nationals . Laura was picked to represent Guernsey at the Youth Commonwealth Games in the Bahamas and was an individual event semi-finalist in last years Commonwealth Games as well as making the finals with for the relays.

Hannah Kennedy
Currently studying for her GCSE’S at Ladies Collage, this will be Hannah’s first Island Games and she is competing in the 100 & 200 Backstroke.
Hannah was selected to attend the National swimming pathway in 2020 and has also been selected to represent Guernsey at the Youth Commonwealth Games to be held in Trinidad and Tobago in August of this year.

Charlie-Joe Hallett
Charlie-Joe is currently training with Plymouth Leander. This will be his third Island Games and he is competing in the 50 & 100 Breaststroke, 50 & 100 Butterfly, 50 freestyle, 100 and 200 individual Medley.
Charlie-Joe won gold in 200 breaststroke in the last Island Games which was held in Gibraltar, he has also competed in British and English Nationals as well as representing Guernsey at the Manchester Commonwealth Games and was a finalist with the men’s relay team. Charlie-Joe is the current holder of 6 Island records.

Samuel Lowe
Samuel is at present working a gap year in Guernsey and will be attending Bath University in September. This will be his second Island Games and he is competing in 200, 400, 800 & 1500 freestyle, 200 & 400 Individual Medley and the 200 Backstroke
Samuel has competed in the English Nationals and also represented Guernsey at the Manchester Commonwealth Games and was a finalist with the men’s relay team. Samuel is the current holder of one Island record.

Ronny Hallett
Ronny is also currently training with Plymouth Leander and this will be Ronny’s second Island Games and he is competing in the 50, 100 & 200 Breaststroke and the 100 Individual Medley.
Ronny has competed in the British and English Nationals and also represented Guernsey at the Manchester Commonwealth Games and was a finalist with the men’s relay team.

Joshua Dunning
Joshua is currently studying for his GCSE’s at Elizabeth Collage, this will be his first Island Games and he is competing in the 1500 freestyle and the 400 Individual Medley.
He has also been selected to represent Guernsey at the Youth Commonwealth Games to be held in Trinidad and Tobago in August.

Luke Le Cras
Luke is currently working full time as an apprentice well as studying toward qualifying as an electrician, this will also be Luke’s first Island Games and he is competing in the 200 Breaststroke.
He has competed at English Nationals has also been selected to represent Guernsey at Youth Commonwealth Games, to be held in Trinidad and Tobago in August of this year.
