Plymouth Leander National Meet

Guernsey Swimming Club swimmers Charlie-Joe and Ronny Hallett attended the Plymouth Leander National Qualifier meet over the bank holiday weekend along with over 750 swimmers. Ronny swam against a very high quality field in the 14/15 year old age group. In the 50 freestyle he swam just off his pb to reach the final where he came 10th. He also swam a great 100 freestyle in a new pb time of 58.43 and also set a new long course time of 2-12-34 in the 200 free. The highlight of his weekend came in the breastrokes where he swam new pb times in all three distances and reached all three finals, placing 6th in the 50 and 100 and 9th in the 200. Ronny rounded his weekend off setting new long course times in the 50 fly and 50 backstroke. Charlie-Joe swam in the 16 and over age group managing to reach seven finals. In the 50 backstroke he pulled off a new pb time of 28.10 placing him 6th in a very competitive final. He also managed to final in the 100 backstroke and placed 7th. In the 100 butterfly he knocked 2.75 seconds off his entry time and came 10th in the final. In the 200 IM he swam just off his pb to take 8th place, choosing to preserve his energy and not swim in the final. The highlight of his weekend came on the third day of the meet in the 50 breastroke where he won the age group gold in a much wanted sub 30 second time of 29.98. He then went on to clock a 29.57 in the final to take another gold and break his recently set Guernsey long course record for this distance. In the 100 breast he placed 6th in the heats and final and in the 200 breastroke he set a new long course personal time of 2.28.88 placing 5th.
