Karen Girard Nominated for Dave Dorey Memorial Trophy

Guernsey Swimming Club coach Karen Girard was nonminted for the Dave Dorey Memorial Trophy – Awarded to the sport or the individual from that sport who has been involved in coaching and / or development and made an outstanding contribution to that sport

Like most people involved in sport, Karen’s two sons were swimming with the Guernsey Swimming Club and Karen was asked to help out, and 25 years later she is still going strong.

Not only does Karen actively coach and teach on a voluntary basis, she also puts in many hours as the vice president and secretary of the Guernsey Swimming Cub and is also a active member of the Guernsey Amateur Swimming Association.  Karen’s dedication and support to the club is a major contribution to the development of many of our local swimmers who go on to represent our club and Island at national and international events.

From spending weekends away at swimming galas, arranging teaching courses, social functions, taking minutes at meetings, polishing trophies and all other manner of duties contributing to the continued success of the Guernsey Swimming Club and their swimmers, she is truly an ‘unsung hero’ and extremely dedicated to her sport.

Well done Karen and all the other coaches, teachers, helpers and officials who continue to support the Guernsey Swimming Club which would not be able to exist without it your time and expertise is much appreciated.
