The Guernsey Swimming Club recently staged its annual Puffin Gala at Beau Sejour. Thirteen records were broken on the Sunday morning and swimmers competed over 25 meters as well as the small pool.
7-year-old Isla Rault competed in the 25m freestyle that is only open to swimmers who normally swim in the small pool. Rault touched in a new record time of 35.12 smashing the previous record set in 2016 of 44.64. 8 year old Alana Le Tissier was close behind with Genevieve Wu coming in third.
Wu stormed to the finish in the 6 year olds 10m backstroke claimed gold in a new record time of 16.80.
Callum Slane competed in the 10m freestyle and backstroke events for swimmers aged 7 and over, where he broke both records. He touched the wall in 12.18 and 18.02 respectively. The backstroke record had stood since 2013 at a time of 19.96.
Lola-Mae Hibbons, 7, competed in the small pools width race where she gained a new record of 11.29. 5 year old Megan Blumsom took silver in 12.11 and Jasmine Felbabel bronze.
Jack Watson swam in the 6 and under 25m freestyle event and touched first in 28.51 breaking the previous record set in 2015. Jacob Lee touched in second place with Adam Beak, 5, finishing third.
8-year-old Samuel Cann broke two records during the Puffin Gala in the 25m freestyle and backstroke in times of 20.10 and 24.09.
Tara Kennedy, 10, set new records in the 25m freestyle and 25m backstroke touching the wall in 19.13 and 20.99 respectively.
Harvey Bachelet also smashed both records in the 25m freestyle and backstroke events finishing first in 19.16 and 21.75.
Reece Evans competed in the 11 and over 25m freestyle event where he touched the wall in a new record time of 18.50.
