Great Results at the Open Tigers Meet

Great Results for Guernsey Swimming Club at the Tigers Open Meet.

24 swimmers from the Guernsey Swimming Club travelled over to Jersey to compete in the Tigers Open Meet at level 2 & 3 held at Les Quennevais Sports Centre in St Brelade’s. Although the meet was held in October qualifying times had to have been achieved by the end of March as the entries closed in early April. Competing against English and Welsh teams, Jersey and Barracudas the 24 swimmers won 17 golds,12 Silvers & 16 bronzes in the Level 2 category and 14 golds, 9 Silvers & 10 bronzes in the Level 3 category a grand total of 78 Medals with some outstanding swimming and lots of PB’s.

Samuel Lowe (13), Laura Le Cras (14) and Charlie-Joe Hallett (15) were awarded the Top Female and Male in their age category. The awards are calculated on the highest FINA points for their best individual swim. For Samuel it was for his 400m freestyle which earned him 481 FINA points in a time of 4:30.71. Laura’s 100m freestyle gained her 656 FINA points in 58.68 and Charlie-Joe’s 100m freestyle gained him 532 FINA Points in 55.46.

Veronica Chapman (14) 400 Free, 200 Breaststroke.
Sorcha Todd (16) 50 Free.
Eileen Chapman (16) 200 Breaststroke, 200 IM.
Ronny Hallett (13) 50 Butterfly.
Callum Penney (19) 50 Breaststroke t, 100 Free.
Kevin Penney (23) 100 Back.

Level 2 Gold Medalists were;

Kiia Walker (13) : 50 Breaststroke.
Laura Le Cras (14) 50 Breaststroke, 50 Free, 200 IM , 100 Free.
Samuel Lowe (13) 400 Free, 200 Free, 200 Back.
Charlie-Joe Hallett (15) 50 Breaststroke, 400 IM, 50 Free, 200 Free, 100 Butterfly, 200 Free,100 Breaststroke, 200 Butterfly, 100 Free.
Ben Lowndes (31) 50 Back.

The event concluded with the Skins event when the top 8 Junior girls and boys and the top 8 Senior girls and boys competed in a knock out event. Kiia Walker and Samuel Lowe qualified for the Juniors and managed to get to the third round. Laura Le Cras, Charlie-Joe Hallett and Ben Lowndes all qualified for the Seniors with Laura and Charlie-Jo getting to the semi’s in a very exciting and close knock out.
