Guernsey Swimming Club took three boys, Luke Le Cras Aged 12, Samuel Lowe Aged 13 and Charlie-Joe Hallett aged 16 to the long course Hampshire County Championships in Portsmouth at the weekend of January 28th/29th. Luke started the weekend off with the 400m Freestyle gaining valuable experience in a 50m pool taking nine seconds of his entered time finishing 5th place with a new time LC time of 5.25.59. Samuel was up next and taking things in his stride looking strong and taking a bronze medal place in 4.50.86. Luke’s next race was the 400m IM something he has never done before in a 50m pool. Not letting this phase him finishing with a silver medal in a LC PB time 6.21.08. Samuel had a great 400m IM race leading the heat in the butterfly leg and ending a strong race with a bronze medal in a LC PB time 5.34.21. Luke’s last event was the 1500M freestyle going into this event ranked 8th. From the start he led the heat but the last length was neck and neck to finish second. Taking over 2 minutes off his entered time he finished in a LC PB time of 21.11.94 gaining him a silver medal in his age group. Samuel also started very strong and had a close race to the end but managed to touch first in his heat in a new LC PB time of 19.07.35 taking 33 sec off his entered time and awarded a bronze medal in his age group. Charlie-Joe started off very strong and finished in a well respectful Bronze medal place in a very strong age group setting a new LC PB time of 17.49.20. Both Samuel and Charlie-Joe have now gained automatic qualifying times to compete at the South East Regionals in May.
