One Hour Postal Swim

Great results for the Guernsey Swimming Club in the British Long Distance Swimming Association One hour postal swim which took place earlier in the year. A total of 1,157 swimmers from all over the UK and the world took part with 43 team entries.

The Guernsey swimmers had a total of 5 first places, Laura Le Cras 12-13 years, Sarah Whitchurch 25-29 years in the H2 Category, Ester Iseppie 55-59 who also set a new record in her age group by 70 meters swimming 4010 meters, Carol Le Compte 60-64 and Mike Banfield 80-84 who was the oldest male to complete the challenge.

Paul Mason came 2nd in the 45-49, and 3rd places were won by Charlie-Joe Hallett 14-15 years, Ewin Menzes 65-69 category. Fourth places went to Izzie Grierson in the Ladies 25-29 and to James Harrison in the Men’s 30-34 years. Eleven year old Kiia Walker managed a 6th place out of 170 competitors and 8 year old Hannah Kennedy managed a credible 8th place in the Under 10 years out of 102 competitors, Joshua Dunning 7th out of 79 competitors also under 10 years and Ronny Hallett 9th in the 10 & 11 years.

Further Success came from the girls in the team events Laura Le Cras, Veronica Chapman and Millie Wenlock won the Silver in the 12 & 13 years team event with a total distance of 11,025 meters swam. Bronze medals were won by Hannah Kennedy, Morgan Hamon and Teshie Marley in the under 10 team event swimming a combined total of 7,765 meters, and also in the 14 & 15 years, Amy Ryan, Aimee Bran and Eileen Chapman with a combined total of 11,180 meters.
